Aspiring to Inspired

Have you seen the poster with the caption, “We’ve been farming too long”? Two elderly and portly farmers wearing pinstriped overalls stand with feet astride, hands deep in their pockets, and ball caps on their head. They are, as Fagan sings in the musical Oliver, “reviewing the situation.”
This year has been a slow year for me in writing, so I am also reviewing the situation. I have been timid in trying new things like putting a book together, starting a blog or a website, or contacting new editors. I have been cautious in spending money on workshops and conferences. I have been undisciplined in setting a writing schedule. My wishy-washy goals are not moving my writing ahead, nor am I sharing the messages laid on my heart. I have been an aspiring writer for too long.
If you, like me, feel you have been aspiring too long, I invite you to follow me as I journal and journey toward a higher level with my writing. Whether writing or another passion is your calling, now is the time to put a few furrows in the ground, plant the seeds, hoe the weeds, and reap the harvest.
As Paul told Timothy, “For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love, and of self-discipline.” (2 Tim. 1:7 NIV) Beginning this blog is the first step in overcoming my Sharon-given spirit of timidity. I will trust God and use his gifts on this and other projects.

  1. Sharon, I am looking forward to seeing how your writing...and blogging...journey will unfold in the coming months. I know what you mean about moving from 'aspiring to write' to actually writing!

Congrats on getting your blog up and running.... You are off to a good start!

  2. Thanks for the comment, Brenda. Even though my blog is still under construction, I appreciate your congratulations and encouragement. Being unsophisticated in the art of technology, I face a steep learning curve.
